Pear Shaped

The reflection of a pear-shaped figure was the first thing I noticed in this beautiful pear. It struck me instantly as a figurative sculpture—an inescapable compulsion I have to find human form in fruit.

This was the first in a series of bronze pears, each one celebrating body image through familiar, organic shapes. I wanted to immortalize the pear at a sentimental scale, using a material historically reserved for monuments. Bronze gives weight and permanence to something soft, natural, and often overlooked.

This pear, like the figure it resembles, is worth celebrating.
