Last Night leans into the feeling of exhaustion — out too late, no longer resembling its original self. It straddles the line between the grotesque and the humorous, a range I find endlessly fascinating, and one that’s heightened by the use of bronze as a material.
There’s a deliberate absurdity in giving an old pizza slice a sense of permanence — a legacy — in the same medium used for monuments. Through this, I continue to explore the relationship between food, feeling, and anthropomorphic qualities as a lens to examine larger questions that run through my practice: a curiosity about the systems and conventions that shape our world, and a desire to understand where those conventions serve us — and where there might be room for change.
